EINSTEIN: A STAGE PORTRAIT, the multi-award winning international stage hit opens at the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park, June 9th. Written and directed by Willard Simms and starring actor John Crowther, the production has received critical and audience acclaim all across Europe, South America and the United States, and was performed Off-Broadway in 1997.
The newly formed Theatre of Will Foundation, a non-profit educational organization, is presenting the production as a means of introducing themselves and their touring productions to the San Fernando Valley. A series of four plays will be made available for schools, bringing to life inspiring and influential figures from history. Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Richard Wright (author of Native Son) and famous flapper Zelda Fitzgerald will be available by invitation only.
EINSTEIN: A STAGE PORTRAIT began its life in 1984 at Los Angeles' Westwood Playhouse (now the Geffen Theatre) starring Larry Gelman. It subsequently went on a national tour, and later crossed the ocean to be performed in London, Paris, and Rome, and at Italy's prestigious Spoleto Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The production will be performed June 9, 10, and 11 at 8 pm. For tickets and information, call the Madrid Theatre, 818 347 7938. The Madrid Theatre is located at 21622 Sherman Way, in Canoga Park. |
